Secondary Religious Education - Postgraduate Certificate
If this is a subject you’re knowledgeable and passionate about then our PGCE Secondary Religious Education course could open the door to a great career.
What's covered in the course?
By teaching Religious Education in the 21st century you’ll draw together the history and teaching of world religions and the use and evaluation of philosophical, theological and ethical frameworks while supporting pupils in their response to social and world issues.
You’ll gain an in-depth knowledge of teaching and learning, which will provide you with the tools to become an excellent teacher able to teach a rich and diverse curriculum.
You’ll engage in education, pedagogy and professional studies sessions and curriculum workshops. These will take place both at the university and in school settings, and will develop your expertise in generic educational and professional issues, and subject-specific teaching theory.
Assignments and school-centered activities are structured around the development of your School Experience Progress Journal (SEPJ) which demonstrates your progress against the nationally agreed competences (the Teachers’ Standards), which all teachers must meet throughout their career. A system of continuous review and assessment of progress in the SEPJ will support your growing ability to take responsibility for your own development.
