BA in International Development Studies (3yrs)

International Development Studies (IDS) is a program that challenges students to explore the causes and consequences of processes that promote some individuals, communities, and nations, and exclude others. Are you interested in issues of social justice? Would you like to learn, live, and work in a way that helps make society more equitable, sustainable, and peaceful? International Development Studies, offered in conjunction with Menno Simons College, will provide you with a solid education and practical skills for a meaningful and exciting career in the field of international or community development. IDS is an interdisciplinary program that allows you to customize your university education to fit your educational and career goals. Core Courses prepare you for citizenship in an increasingly interdependent global community and encourage you to envision paths toward a transformed, just world. You will also choose courses from a number of related disciplines. Senior students have the opportunity to apply theory and skills to real-world situations through the practicum program. This program allows you to gain personal and practical volunteer experience within a development organization in a local or international context. This program leads to a Bachelor of Arts degree (3-year or 4-year) with a Major in International Development Studies. Students taking an undergraduate degree in another Major may choose to add a Minor in International Development Studies as a secondary area of interest. Menno Simons College (MSC) is a college of the Canadian Mennonite University. It is also affiliated with The University of Winnipeg and coordinates programming with several UWinnipeg departments. International Development Studies degrees are conferred by The University of Winnipeg.
