The Global Political Economy program is a unique interdisciplinary approach for the study of international political, social, environmental, and economic issues. It brings together faculty and course offerings across five disciplines to give you a superb education in global political economic relations, and their effects on local communities. The program integrates courses in Political Studies, Economics, Sociology, Anthropology, and History, and for Advanced degree students, two core courses in Global Political Economy.

What is unique about this program at the U of M?
The University of Manitoba’s Global Political Economy is a unique undergraduate program among Canadian universities. It balances a commitment to interdisciplinary education and political economy with a rigourous, coherent set of core and elective courses. Our goal is to give students the tools to analyze how global political and economic forces shape local circumstances. Students are encouraged to ask questions that matter to them, and develop the theoretical and applied skills to answer them.
