Bachelor of Nursing

Nursing is the science of professional caring and offers opportunities to promote and restore health, prevent illness and alleviate suffering. In this degree, you will develop key skills for excellent nursing care. You will develop your skills through clinical placements across the health sector and you will have opportunities to undertake rural, remote and overseas placements. The Bachelor of Nursing includes multiple pathways. The degree requirements of each of the pathways are different and you will need to follow the requirements for your pathway to ensure your eligibility to graduate.

As well as hospitals, medical centers, community health clinics and aged care centres, you'll be prepared for work in schools, the travel industry, with drug and alcohol service providers, in sporting clubs or in research organizations.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Prerequisites: English, English as an Additional Language, Literature or English & Literature Extension (Units 3&4, C)

Internationally Qualified Nurses must demonstrate recency of practice (within a period of five years) and have unconditional registration in the country where their original registration was obtained.

Advanced standing pathway

Trimester 1 intake: Applicants for the Advanced standing pathway must:

  • hold a Diploma of Nursing from an accredited Australian Education Provider and registration as an Enrolled Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • OR have completed more than one year of Bachelor of Nursing studies from an Australian University deemed equivalent to Year 1 of the Griffith University Bachelor of Nursing

Trimester 2 intake: Applicants for the Advanced standing pathway must:

  • hold a Diploma of Health Care from Griffith College
  • OR hold a Diploma of Nursing from an accredited Australian Education Provider and registration as an Enrolled Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • OR are an Internationally Qualified Nurse and provide documentary evidence with their application.

Note: A limited number of places are available for the Advanced standing pathway.

India

Qualification: All India Senior School Certificate or Comparable Qualification (awarded by CBSE or CISCE)

  • Your entry requirements include: An overall grade average of 65% in the best 4 academic subjects

Sri Lanka

Qualification: Sri Lankan General Certificate of Education

  • Your entry requirements include: Grade average of 2.3 in the best 3 Advanced Level subjects (where A=4, B=3, C=2, S=1)

Nepal

Qualification: Nepalese Higher Secondary Certificate

  • Your entry requirements include: Grade average of 84 in the final year results

Qualification: Nepalese Proficiency Certificate

  • Your entry requirements include: Grade average of 86 in the final year results.
