Political Science, Bachelor of Arts

The Political Science BA/BS program prepares students to examine the power behind the policies and politics of the U.S. government and international relations.

Our program provides students with a basic understanding of American politics and policies as well as courses designed to enhance critical thinking, analytic skills, improve research practices, and communication skills, both oral and written.

As a political science student, you will complete a comprehensive curriculum that delivers high-demand knowledge, skills, and abilities in several areas such as:

Students in the Political Science Program can specialize in their field of interest through concentration areas in General Education or Secondary Education Emphasis.

The Political Science program prepares students for a wide range of careers, including academia, law, state, and federal government, private enterprise, the military, and entry into graduate programs.

Job Opportunity Potential

Colorado State University-Pueblo is committed to providing a safe and productive learning and living community. PSW Opportunity

Post-Study Work visa or permit, allowing international students on F-1 visas to work in the US after completing their studies, typically through Optional Practical Training (OPT).

Eligibility:
To be eligible for OPT, students must have been enrolled full-time in a US educational institution for at least one academic year and be seeking work related to their major.

Duration:
Students can apply for up to 12 months of OPT, either before they finish their studies (pre-completion) or after graduation (post-completion).

STEM OPT:
Students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields can apply for an extended OPT period of up to 24 months.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

English-proficiency requirements for all programs (except Nursing and MBA)

A minimum score of 500 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) paper-based test, a minimum score of 61 on the TOEFL internet-based (iBT);
A minimum band score of 5.5 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic test; or
A minimum score of 95 on the Duolingo English Test (for undergraduate programs only-excludes undergraduate nursing).
