Mathematics, Bachelor of Science

The Mathematics BA/BS program is designed to prepare students to use quantitative and analytical methods and powerful mathematical problem-solving strategies necessary for lifelong independent learning.

Students will learn to formulate and solve problems using mathematical tools while working alone or in groups on routine problems, non-routine, and open-ended problems, problems involving applications to other fields, problems involving real-world data, and abstract problems within mathematics.

Students in the Mathematics program can specialize in their field of interest or choose a concentration in Secondary Certification.

The Mathematics program prepares students for professional careers and graduate studies in actuarial science, computer science, engineering, operations research, biomathematics, cryptography, finance, pure and applied mathematics, and teaching.

Job Opportunity Potential

Colorado State University-Pueblo is committed to providing a safe and productive learning and living community. PSW Opportunity

Post-Study Work visa or permit, allowing international students on F-1 visas to work in the US after completing their studies, typically through Optional Practical Training (OPT).

Eligibility:
To be eligible for OPT, students must have been enrolled full-time in a US educational institution for at least one academic year and be seeking work related to their major.

Duration:
Students can apply for up to 12 months of OPT, either before they finish their studies (pre-completion) or after graduation (post-completion).

STEM OPT:
Students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields can apply for an extended OPT period of up to 24 months.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

English-proficiency requirements for all programs (except Nursing and MBA)

A minimum score of 500 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) paper-based test, a minimum score of 61 on the TOEFL internet-based (iBT);
A minimum band score of 5.5 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic test; or
A minimum score of 95 on the Duolingo English Test (for undergraduate programs only-excludes undergraduate nursing).
