California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI) is a public university located in Ventura County, California. CSUCI opened in 2002 as the 23rd campus in the California State University system and is located midway between Santa Barbara and Los Angeles and 25 miles north from Malibu. CSUCI is nestled against the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains and is a 10-minute drive from the Pacific Ocean. With more than 7,000 students, 1,200 employees and 14,000 alumni, CSUCI is poised to grow in size and distinction, while maintaining one of the most student-focused learning environments in public higher education. With more than 90 academic degrees, teaching credentials, certificates, and professional and community programs, CSUCI is reimagining higher education for a new generation and era.

Post-Study Work visa or permit, allowing international students on F-1 visas to work in the US after completing their studies, typically through Optional Practical Training (OPT).

Eligibility:
To be eligible for OPT, students must have been enrolled full-time in a US educational institution for at least one academic year and be seeking work related to their major.

Duration:
Students can apply for up to 12 months of OPT, either before they finish their studies (pre-completion) or after graduation (post-completion).

STEM OPT:
Students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields can apply for an extended OPT period of up to 24 months.

International Graduate Admission Requirements

International (F-1) students may be accepted if they fulfill the following requirements:

• Have earned a degree or diploma that CI considers to be the equivalent to a U.S. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Have attained a minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.5 in all units attempted as an undergraduate or have attained a minimum GPA of 2.5 in the last 60 semester (90 quarter) units attempted. Certain programs have stricter requirements regarding academic preparation. (Please refer to the specific graduate program that you are applying to for GPA requirements.)
• An official TOEFL score report with a minimum score of 550 on the paper-based test or 80 on the Internet-based-test) or an overall IELTS band score of 6.5.
