This degree is for those who have a non- Professionally Accredited engineering or technology degree and wish to upgrade to a Professionally Accredited engineering qualification, or wish to branch out into another area of specialisation.
Course Learning Outcomes
- Critically reflect on existing theoretical knowledge in engineering and analyse recent developments in engineering practice, including sustainability issues, from a local and global perspective.
- Demonstrate comprehensive theoretical and technical knowledge in the engineering discipline, with advanced knowledge in one specialisation.
- Demonstrate knowledge of research principles and methods applicable to engineering through the review and analysis of existing research for the purposes of a research based project.
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in team settings in a professional engineering context.
- Demonstrate the ability to evaluate complex ideas and concepts at an abstract level and generate creative and innovative design solutions in specific engineering contexts.
- Demonstrate the levels of technology, information and English literacy and numeric proficiency required for professional practice in engineering etc.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
The following course-specific admission requirements are mandatory and must be satisfied by all applicants. These requirements are in addition to or supersede the minimum requirements outlined within the Academic admission requirements band section below.
It is desirable that all applicants have five years of appropriate professional experience.
Academic admission requirements (Band 8) may be satisfied through the completion of one of the following:
- Bachelor degree in a cognate discipline; or
- Where accepted, equivalent prior learning, including at least five years of relevant professional experience.
English competency requirements may be satisfied through the completion of one of the following (Band 4):
- IELTS Academic Overall band minimum score of 6.5 (no individual band less than 6.0);
- Bachelor degree from a country specified on the English Proficiency Bands page;
- Successfully completed 0.375 EFTSL of study at postgraduate level or higher at an Australian higher education provider (or equivalent);
- Where accepted, equivalent prior learning, including at least five years of relevant professional experience; or
- Other tests, courses, or programs defined on the English Proficiency Bands page.
