As a highly trained emigre physician born and educated outside of the United States, you can become eligible to practice as a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) in the U.S. through the emigre Physicians Program (EPP).

The four-year, full-time emigre Physicians Program (EPP) is ideal for emigre physicians seeking to become Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) in the U.S. 

You’ll receive the training needed to qualify for proper licensing, obtain your D.O. degree, and qualify for medical residency. You’ll study the principles and practices of osteopathic medicine and complete courses in specialized areas such as child abuse prevention, infection control, and medical Spanish. 

Admission to the emigre Physicians Program is highly selective and competitive. Candidates are chosen based on academic excellence, an in-person interview, and other criteria.

PSW Opportunity

Post-Study Work visa or permit, allowing international students on F-1 visas to work in the US after completing their studies, typically through Optional Practical Training (OPT).

Eligibility:
To be eligible for OPT, students must have been enrolled full-time in a US educational institution for at least one academic year and be seeking work related to their major.

Duration:
Students can apply for up to 12 months of OPT, either before they finish their studies (pre-completion) or after graduation (post-completion).

STEM OPT:
Students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields can apply for an extended OPT period of up to 24 months.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for a Ph.D. program at New York Institute of Technology (NYIT), applicants typically need a bachelor's degree (BS) or a master's degree (MS) from an accredited university, depending on the specific program. The university requires a minimum GPA of 3.2/4.0 for BS applicants and 3.5/4.0 for MS applicants. A minimum GRE score of 300 is also required, and international students must demonstrate English proficiency through TOEFL (79) or IELTS (6.5). 

  • Specific Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree (BS): A minimum GPA of 3.2/4.0 from a regionally accredited university.
  • Master's Degree (MS): A minimum GPA of 3.5/4.0 from a regionally accredited university.
  • GRE: A minimum score of 300.
  • English Proficiency (International Students): TOEFL iBT score of 79 or IELTS score of 6.5.
