Bachelor of Science Health Science
JWU Providence students experience a truly interdisciplinary Health Science program, bringing together all of JWU’s curriculum resources while giving you flexibility to explore approaches to health and the healthcare industry.
Build a solid foundation for an entry-level position in healthcare or for further education in disciplines such as medicine, physical therapy, public health and occupational therapy. You’ll gain hands-on experience with basic lab techniques and learn to evaluate, present and analyze data. This training will teach you to assess populations, identify issues and devise effective solutions, all centered around compassionate care in diverse medical fields.
Our small class sizes and personalized instruction mean that you will work closely with supportive, industry-knowledgeable faculty who take a personal interest in helping you prepare for wherever your future takes you. Faculty members have also cultivated strong partnerships with local organizations like Brown University Health, Care New England and the Rhode Island Department of Health & Human Services, giving you access to valuable networking opportunities. They can also help you enhance your research skills through guided learning, including the possibility of publishing your research in scientific journals.
Campus Information
Providence Campus
In Providence, the university revitalized close to 100 acres of waterfront alongside our Harborside Campus, providing a stunning natural setting and a range of environmental and recreational benefits to the community. The campus’ 82,000-square-foot Cuisinart Center for Culinary Excellence showcases stunning views of Narragansett Bay and is designed as the nation’s first LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified culinary lab.
Charlotte Campus
In Charlotte, JWU moved to a blighted area being redeveloped; today the campus encompasses 8 buildings on 13 acres in Uptown Charlotte. By pursuing a nontraditional growth model, JWU is delivering career education to students in two US regions while benefiting these local economies and communities.

Job Opportunity Potential
JWU is particularly strong for certain fields; in those areas, job potential is especially good:
- Hospitality, Culinary Arts, Food Services / Innovation — JWU is well known for these, and there are strong industry connections.
- Tourism & Hospitality Management — internships and hands-on experience help a lot here.
- Business & Applied Arts — roles in operations, management, marketing etc., especially in service, tourism, food, events.
- Experiential / Applied Trainings — students who take advantage of internships, work-study, hands-on labs tend to do better.
My Assessment: Overall Job Opportunity Potential
- JWU offers very good job opportunity potential, especially for students who make the most of the experiential learning, internships, and networking offerings.
- If you maximize what the university offers (internships, campus recruiting, alumni network), you have a high chance of finding a good job soon after graduation.
- For international students or those planning to work outside the U.S., you’ll need to check whether your field is in demand locally, whether your qualification is recognized, and whether visa/work permit rules allow you to stay and work.
PSW Opportunity
