BS in Chemistry

As a chemistry major at Sacred Heart, you'll benefit from a balanced curriculum that prepares you for a career or further study. The applied teacher-scholar model provides the opportunity for chemistry students to work alongside faculty who are actively engaged in their field. The chemistry major provides a solid foundation for students wanting to pursue a career in a variety of different fields, including, but not limited to: health care; industries like biotech, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, chemicals or cosmetics; education; and chemical/medical sales. The chemistry major also prepares students for advanced study in business school, pharmacy school, medical school, veterinary school and law school.

PSW Opportunity

Post-Study Work visa or permit, allowing international students on F-1 visas to work in the US after completing their studies, typically through Optional Practical Training (OPT).

Eligibility:
To be eligible for OPT, students must have been enrolled full-time in a US educational institution for at least one academic year and be seeking work related to their major.

Duration:
Students can apply for up to 12 months of OPT, either before they finish their studies (pre-completion) or after graduation (post-completion).

STEM OPT:
Students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields can apply for an extended OPT period of up to 24 months.

Academic Qualifications
High School Diploma:
You must have completed a high school degree or its equivalent, representing the final 12 years of formal education.

Transcripts:
You need to provide official transcripts from all secondary and post-secondary schools you attended.

While SAT/ACT scores are optional, a strong academic record and GPA are critical, with most admitted students having a GPA of 3.4 or higher.
