Bachelor's-MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling

At Sacred Heart University, you can earn your bachelor’s and master’s degrees to become a clinical mental health counselor in six years.

Dual degree students are guaranteed admission to the Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program provided they continue, as undergraduate students, to meet program-specific criteria to progress into graduate program enrollment.

Students in the dual degree program complete their baccalaureate degree in four years of undergraduate study and complete the Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) in two years of graduate study.

PSW Opportunity

Post-Study Work visa or permit, allowing international students on F-1 visas to work in the US after completing their studies, typically through Optional Practical Training (OPT).

Eligibility:
To be eligible for OPT, students must have been enrolled full-time in a US educational institution for at least one academic year and be seeking work related to their major.

Duration:
Students can apply for up to 12 months of OPT, either before they finish their studies (pre-completion) or after graduation (post-completion).

STEM OPT:
Students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields can apply for an extended OPT period of up to 24 months.

Academic Qualifications
High School Diploma:
You must have completed a high school degree or its equivalent, representing the final 12 years of formal education. 

Transcripts:
You need to provide official transcripts from all secondary and post-secondary schools you attended. 

While SAT/ACT scores are optional, a strong academic record and GPA are critical, with most admitted students having a GPA of 3.4 or higher.

English Language Proficiency

Proof of English proficiency is necessary for international students. Accepted tests and minimum scores include:
