Master of Urban Development and Design
The Master of Urban Development and Design offers you advanced study in the growth and change of urban form. The degree is multidisciplinary, Design Studio based and includes a compulsory field trip and workshop in a major international city. You will connect with fellow universities, city agencies and professionals to integrate the latest urban development practice with creative design to forge the 21st century city.You will study the synthesis of spatial political economy, urban design principles and paradigms, and urban design as public policy. The research/design component involves higher order research as a preparation for new practice frontiers, or a higher degree.

Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.
- Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
- Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
- Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
- The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants
Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:
- Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
- Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
- Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
- PhD students can stay upto 4 years
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
Admission to 8131 Urban Development and Design Program (72 UOC) is for students who have a recognised four year Bachelor degree or equivalent in an appropriate cognate discipline or have completed the 7131 Graduate Certificate. Admission is also open to graduates of a recognised three year undergraduate degree in Architecture studies. All applicants must have achieved a minimum of a credit average (equivalent to a WAM of 65 or above) in their Bachelor degree. Additionally, applicants will need to submit a portfolio to support their application.
Relevant disciplines would typically include design and non-design based disciplines in the built environment, design and engineering: Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Interior Architecture, Design, Planning, Property Development, Construction, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Transport Engineering.
