The Bachelor of Accounting will equip you with the theory and practice of accountancy in an ethical, socially responsible and sustainable way to provide accounting and business advice to companies, organisations and individuals that aligns with Ng? Kaupapa o te Tiriti o Waitangi.
You will explore a range of accounting topics through active and applied learning. Compulsory modules cover core business and accounting topics, enabling you to develop comprehensive professional skills, knowledge and capabilities. An elective in your third year allows you to focus on another topic of interest in business.
In your third year, you will also undertake a professional accounting project with a local business. This opportunity allows you to apply your learnings in a real-life, hands-on work environment that you can add to your CV for future employment.
This degree has both CAANZ and CPA accreditation meeting their academic eligibility for full membership, and can be studied either part-time or full-time. This allows graduates to become chartered accountants and comes with a range of benefits and networks across Aotearoa, New Zealand and worldwide. Our course structure gives you a breadth and depth of skills and knowledge to work as an accountant, with our graduates being known not only for being highly skilled, but also for being able to hit the ground running.

PSW Opportunity
- During study, all students on a student visa can work up to 20 hours per week during semester and full time during vacations.
- After completing Level 7 Bachelor’s Degree or Higher Qualification, a student will get a three years open post-study work visa.
- After completing Level 8 Post Graduate courses of 1 year, students get 1 year PSW.
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
Level 6 Admission Requirement:
Completed Year 12 or equivalent.
Based on study completed after school (tertiary study)
- Completed the New Zealand Diploma (Level 5);
- Or a recognised equivalent.
Level 7 Admission Requirement:
Candidates are required to:
i) have successfully completed a bachelor degree from a New Zealand Institution or an approved and accredited overseas institution; or
ii) Successfully completed a Level 6 or 7 Diploma and relevant work and/or life experience (equivalent to a bachelor degree); or
iii) Evidence of equivalent practical, professional or educational experience as approved by the Centre Director or authorised nominee.
Concurrent programmes:
IELTS 5.5 with a minimum of 5.0 in all bands, or equivalent
Programmes level 4 and below:
IELTS 5.5 with a minimum of 5.0 in all bands, or equivalent
Programmes levels 5 to 7:
IELTS 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in all bands, or equivalent
Programmes level 8 and above:
IELTS 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in all bands, or equivalent
Additional requirements:
2 year validity period for all assessments. External bodies may influence some programme specific IELTS levels. You must provide evidence of your proficiency in the English language.
