Use your existing qualification and experience to enter early childhood education (ECE) with our Master of Teaching qualification.
Our Master's qualification lets you use your previous degree and gain practical experience. You’ll complete over 14 weeks of placements in early childhood centres, taking and applying theory straight to the classroom.
You’ll learn how to build and craft young minds to succeed in their learning with a mixture of papers across early childhood curriculum, becoming a teaching professional and the contexts and challenges of early childhood education.

Campus Information
Mokoia Campus
Situated on 20 hectares on the southern end of the city limits, Mokoia Campus students are surrounded by beautiful forests and a scenic reserve, with views to mountains and geysers. Mokoia is always evolving and new buildings include a recreation centre and a centrally located amphitheatre near our marae. The amphitheatre is a popular spot for on-campus entertainment when the sun is shining. Our newest teaching facility is the $10.2 million Health and Sciences Centre which was purpose-built for the nursing, health care and sport sciences. It features classrooms, laboratories, and lecture and performance halls.

PSW Opportunity
Level 7 (Bachelor’s degree)
- Duration: Equal to length of study (typically up to 3 years)
- Requirement: minimum 30 weeks full time study in NZ
Level 7 (Graduate Diploma)
Eligible for PSWV
Conditions:
- Must also hold a Bachelor’s degree (NZ or overseas)
- Duration: Up to length of study (typically 1 year)
Level 8 (Postgraduate Diploma)
- Duration: Equal to length of study, OR
- Up to 3 years in some cases (if part of higher qualification pathway)
Level 9 and 10 (Master’s degree and Doctoral degree)
- Duration: 3 years
- Condition: Must study at least 30 weeks in New Zealand
- Most eligible international students can work up to 25 hours per week during study and full-time during scheduled breaks, only if their student visa includes work rights.
- Foundation, pathway and short courses have different rules.
