This programme is focused on providing you with an understanding about the legal and ethical responsibilities of being a counsellor. Learn skills in mental health, addictions and working with wh?nau, family and children.
After completing this programme, you’ll be able to enter the counselling profession at a beginning practitioner level.
Practical placements are an essential part of the programme and you’ll spend time working in community agencies and organisations.
There will be opportunities to experience counselling yourself and be involved in a group process in your first year.
You’ll have developed the skills and professional attributes to enable you to work collaboratively within this increasingly complex and interdisciplinary sector.

PSW Opportunity
- During study, all students on a student visa can work up to 20 hours per week during semester and full time during vacations.
- After completing Level 7 Bachelor’s Degree or Higher Qualification, a student will get a three years open post-study work visa.
- After completing Level 8 Post Graduate courses of 1 year, students get 1 year PSW.
