Bachelor of Arts - Music
The Department of Music offers superb performance and academic instruction, pristine facilities in the Walker School and a professional auditorium in the 300-seat Recital Hall at the adjacent FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre.
There is a wide range of courses in music history, theory, general musicianship, solo and ensemble performance, composition, conducting, music technology and music education.
The concentration in Music Education is perfect for further studies in a Faculty of Education and eventual school teaching, or teaching in a private studio setting. This concentration includes music education foundations, techniques courses in voice and major instrument types, choral pedagogy, conducting, music technology and music cognition. Music Education-oriented practicum placements are also available.

St. Catharines Campus
St. Catharines campus of the Brock University houses around 2,500 students in 8 residence complexes. Also, the institution has a campus in the city named Hamilton in Ontario. It has a gymnasium, board room, instructional resource center, library, large classrooms, modern computer labs, faculty office space, conference facilities, food services, and green spaces.

If your program was less than 8 months
- You aren’t eligible for a PGWP.
If your program was more than 8 months but less than 2 years
- We may give you a PGWP that’s valid for up to the same length as your study program.
For example, if you completed a 9-month program, we may give you a work permit for up to 9 months.
If your program was 2 years or more
- We may give you a PGWP that’s valid for 3 years.
If you completed more than 1 program
- You may be able to get a PGWP that combines the length of each program.
Each of the programs you completed -
- must be PGWP-eligible and at least 8 months in length
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
General admission requirements:
- Senior Secondary school credential appropriate for entry to university in your home country;
- Academically rigorous grade 12 year
- Minimum B- average (higher for some programs);
Prerequisite requirements
English (ENG4U)
- A theory placement test (RMC advanced Rudiments) and aural skills test must be passed.
- Entrance evaluation required
Recommended subjects
- One from 4U history, 4U Music, 4U philosophy, 4U classical studies, or 4U international language
