Youth Care - Diploma
Through this Youth Care Worker program you will learn about the various aspects of growth and development and how to develop therapeutic relationships with youth, their families and other informal helpers.

Biggar
Biggar is located less than an hour west of Saskatoon. The community has a diverse offering of recreational activities that include karate, skiing and gun clubs in addition to hockey, curling and baseball. Relax at the outdoor pool, fishing at the trout pond or finishing a round on the nine-hole grass green golf course.
Swift Current
Swift Current is located less than 15 minutes from the downtown core of Saskatoon. The city is constantly evolving to meet the needs of a young and active population. There is a robust selection of parks, playgrounds and facilities, to foster healthy and affordable living. You can play golf, tennis and soccer, go paintballing or join in on the annual rodeo and Winterfest events. Prairie Oasis Park offers a skateboard park, BMX track and toboggan hill.

Job Opportunity Potential
As a graduate of this program, you may find employment as a youth care worker, community school outreach worker, community school classroom assistant or a group home worker. You may also work on the front lines with the provincial government. Shift work is common.
Earning Potential
In 2022, the wage for Social and community service workers in Saskatchewan was $17.00-$32.00/hour, according to the Saskatchewan Ministry of Immigration and Career Training. Employees may earn more or less depending on their employer, location, size of company, training, experience and hours worked.

If your program was less than 8 months
- You aren’t eligible for a PGWP.
If your program was more than 8 months but less than 2 years
- We may give you a PGWP that’s valid for up to the same length as your study program.
For example, if you completed a 9-month program, we may give you a work permit for up to 9 months.
If your program was 2 years or more
- We may give you a PGWP that’s valid for 3 years.
If you completed more than 1 program
- You may be able to get a PGWP that combines the length of each program.
Each of the programs you completed -
- must be PGWP-eligible and at least 8 months in length
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
- Grade 12
- A security clearance, personal interview and/or medical may be required for practical placements
