B.A. Digital Design

The Digital Design degree is a liberal arts, generalized undergraduate program that provides exposure to the varied design fields in media and prepares students for employment or graduate study in a wide range of industries.

Because the field is evolving and broad, exposure to the breadth of opportunities is an explicit objective, as is comprehensive education in the basic principles of visual design using computer technologies.

Initial coursework emphasizes intellectual development of relevant principles of art and design, hand-eye coordination and development of student projects with both traditional, analog and digital tools.

The program progressively builds in complexity and provides opportunities for student-selected detailed investigation into areas of interest (e.g. game design, character design, interactive product design), or continued exploration in the breadth of opportunities.

It is an additional objective that students understand and be able to utilize a variety of applications and tools to be able to select the right one for the design problem at hand, and develop strategies for learning new tools and techniques in order to grow and learn when those change and evolve.

Assistant/Associate Professor

The Department of Mathematical Sciences (DMS) at the New Jersey Institute of Technology seeks candidates to fill a tenure-track position at the assistant or associate professor level in the areas of statistical data science and machine learning. The appointment is expected to start in Fall 2025.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Statistics, Data Science, or related discipline with strong research, funding, and teaching potential. The department is particularly interested in candidates who, in addition to demonstrating research excellence, will be highly effective at teaching data science and statistics courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.

Functions include, but are not limited to, teaching assigned course(s), maintaining student attendance records, and holding regularly scheduled office hours. If assigned to a coordinated course, the Math Adjunct must participate in common exam proctoring and grading.

Math Senior University Lecturer

The Department of Mathematical Sciences (DMS) at the New Jersey Institute of Technology seeks candidates to fill a senior university lecturer position. The primary responsibility, as a Senior University Lecturer, is to teach 12 credits each semester of undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the Department of Mathematical Sciences, particularly for courses in Probability, Statistics, Data Science, and Mathematics as assigned by the Department Chair. Functions include, but are not limited to, teaching assigned course(s), maintaining student attendance records, and holding regularly scheduled office hours. If assigned to a coordinated course, the Math Adjunct must participate in common exam proctoring and grading.

PSW Opportunity

Post-Study Work visa or permit, allowing international students on F-1 visas to work in the US after completing their studies, typically through Optional Practical Training (OPT).

Eligibility:
To be eligible for OPT, students must have been enrolled full-time in a US educational institution for at least one academic year and be seeking work related to their major.

Duration:
Students can apply for up to 12 months of OPT, either before they finish their studies (pre-completion) or after graduation (post-completion).

STEM OPT:
Students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields can apply for an extended OPT period of up to 24 months.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

All students who apply to NJIT must submit an official high school transcript in English. When evaluating your application for undergraduate admission, we are interested in understanding how you challenged yourself relative to the curriculum that was available at your school and the trends in your performance—for example, if your grades improved between freshman and senior year.

We also consider the GPA that is indicated on your high school transcript. We look for students in the top 25 percent of their class. For schools that don't use a ranking system, we consider a 3.0 GPA or higher to be equivalent.

Partaking in rigorous curricula, such as Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) classes, can give you an additional advantage. The number of semester credits you will receive will depend on whether you got a 3, 4, or 5 on your AP exams, or a grade of 5, 6, or 7 in IB subject areas. That score also determines which courses you will be excused from taking at NJIT.

Standardized Test Scores

All freshman applicants must take the SAT and/or the ACT, as they provide helpful standardized context for your application compared to our overall applicant pool. However, be assured that test scores are only one part of our application review.

Effective as of January 2017, NJIT will accept the redesigned SAT scores for admission and scholarship purposes. Applicants may submit scores from either the old or new SAT.

Average composite SAT score for our enrolling freshmen is 1285 (2 part - Math and Critical Reading).

Average ACT score for our enrolling freshmen is 26.

Submitting Scores

We will consider either the new or old SAT or ACT and use the highest scores provided, even if they are not from your most recent testing. You may self-report standardized test scores on your application as a temporary placeholder for official scores, allowing us to get a head start on a review of your file.

We recommend you send us all of your official scores as soon as possible, or no later than the time you test, to avoid missing a deadline.
