In Australia, ICT is one of the top five industries hiring new staff members (Michael Page, 2021a, Robert Half, 2021) According to the Australian Computer Society, Australia will need 520,000 additional qualified ICT staff in 2026 compared to 2019 (Technology Decisions, 2021). Internationally, 24 developed countries report a shortage of software engineers and developers and 11 countries report a shortage of ICT data analysts (Michael Page, 2021b).

Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.
- Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
- Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
- Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
- The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants
Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:
- Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
- Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
- Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
- PhD students can stay upto 4 years
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
Academic Entry Requirements
- Completion of an Australian Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in any discipline; or
- Completion of an Australian Graduate Certificate (or equivalent) in any discipline; or
- Completion of an Australian Graduate Diploma (or equivalent) in any discipline.
English Entry Requirements
- IELTS score of a minimum of 6.5 with no band less than 6.0 or equivalent; or
- Recognised English Language Course: English for Academic Purposes from Ozford English Language Centre or another CRICOS listed English language qualification studied in Australia with outcomes equivalent to IELTS 6.5 with no band less than 6.0; or
- Completion of undergraduate or postgraduate degree, including Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in Australia within the past two years; or
- Completion of a higher education qualification in English Language awarded by a recognised university in which English is the primary language.
