Criminology with Psychology BA (Hons) Integrated Foundation Year

This newly re-developed Criminology with Psychology degree course invites you to combine the understanding of human behaviour, development, thoughts and emotions from psychology and develop this within the context of the study of crime, social order and social control that is central to the study of criminology.

The University of Northampton’s Criminology with Psychology course has a particular emphasis on criminal behaviour, law enforcement and crime prevention. It will also equip you with transferable critical and analytical skills that will enhance your employability.

Job Opportunity Potential

Armed with a combination of both disciplines from the Criminology with Psychology degree, the University of Northampton’s graduates can go on to employment in a range of different sectors and roles.

It covers a wide range of professions for people working with victims of crime, people who commit crime and those people who are at risk of becoming victims/offenders or both.  This could include working with victim support, offender rehabilitation and agencies working with young people or other populations at risk, including refugees, minorities etc. Some of the graduates could work in advocacy with the 3rd sector or further their studies in pursuing a career in research in academia. There are also career paths in the civil sector and in local government that focus on particular social issues, including, housing, support, and fraud detection. Graduates can also elect to continue their studies at master’s level to work in social work, youth offending, and youth leadership.
