Charles Sturt University's Bachelor of Animal Science provides a broad foundation in biological sciences, research skills and animal health, welfare, behaviour, nutrition, genetics, breeding and management/husbandry.

A competitive edge

If you achieve a grade point average of 5.0 or above by the end of your third year of study, you may be eligible to apply for an Honours year; a one-year program to develop the skills needed for a career in academia, research, teaching or within specific parts to the animal industry, such as product development.

Regular 2 years post study work visa for international students completing Bachelors and Masters degrees (minimum 92 weeks), 3 years for Masters by Research and 4 years for PhD. graduates

Other Locations (Regional centres and other regional areas):

International students studying at regional universities will be eligible to access an additional
2 years in Australia on a post-study work visa
(Which means a Bachelors or Masters graduate can get up to 4 years of PSW visa)

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

A completed High School Certificate with an ATAR of 65 (including adjustment factors) or equivalent.
OR
A completed Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) with an equivalent ranking to the currently listed ATAR.
OR
A completed AQF Certificate III or higher level qualification.
OR
50% completion of an AQF Diploma level qualification.
OR
A completed Tertiary Preparation Course from an Australian University or an accredited provider demonstrating a reasonable prospect of success through the Grade Point Average (GPA) gained in these studies.
OR
Successful completion of two University level subjects (AQF level Associate Degree or higher) demonstrating a reasonable prospect of success through Grade Point Average (GPA) gained in these studies.
OR
A minimum of three years relevant work experience AND documentary evidence of motivation to undertake university study in animal science. Such evidence must include a statement by the applicant addressing their work experience, the reason(s) for their interest in the course and what they have done (or will do) to prepare for the course. A statement of support (recommendation) from an employer or a professional person is highly desirable.
