Master of Teaching in Primary Education
This course is designed for graduates seeking to qualify as primary school teachers in NSW. It is ideal for those with relevant undergraduate degrees, and it can be completed in two years.
It takes a comprehensive approach to teaching, blending educational theory with practical decision-making. Importantly, it stands out for its focus on inclusive education, digital learning, Indigenous Australian perspectives, and data-driven research and evaluation.
You will gain expertise in English, Mathematics, Creative Arts, HSIE, STEM, and PDHPE, alongside effective teaching methods.
Learning involves a mix of campus-based studies and 60 days of field-based professional teaching experiences, ensuring you are well-prepared for the classroom environment.
This course is a NSW primary school teaching preparation course and adheres to the subject content knowledge prerequisites as stipulated by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). It is suitable for students about to graduate with a bachelor's degree and for graduates who are changing careers and want a teaching qualification. It includes an intensive professional experience program where students spend 60 days in practical experience teaching, and offers extensive, structured and closely supported experiences of primary school teaching in different settings.

The UTS Careers Fair is targeted at penultimate and final year students and is also open all undergraduate and postgraduate, local and international students. Each employer selects the types of students they wish to target (by year level and faculty) in the registration process. Students are all given colour-coded badges when they arrive so that employers can see who corresponds to their desired candidates, and a map of the booths, to easily find these employers. Additionally, each employer booth is coded with the students with whom they would like to meet so that the process is further streamlined. We will also have Careers Ambassadors, who are students working on the event, to assist you where needed.

Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.
- Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
- Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
- Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
- The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants
Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:
- Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
- Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
- Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
- PhD students can stay upto 4 years
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must have completed a UTS recognised bachelor's degree, or an equivalent or higher qualification, or submitted other evidence of general and professional qualifications that demonstrates potential to pursue graduate studies.
