Master of Business Administration
The purpose of this MBA is to empower leaders and aspiring leaders in the public service ecosystem to make effective and evidence-informed decisions in complex environments through learning and development. To achieve this purpose, the program will:
Equip leaders and aspiring leaders with evidence-based knowledge, skills, tools, and frameworks to navigate, embrace, and manage real complexities
Redefine traditional notions of leadership success in both practice and research
Provide leaders with resources to enact principles of equity, inclusion, and fairness, and to embody integrity
Develop capabilities for complexity leadership, systems thinking, and transdisciplinary problem-solving
Position leaders for career success and advancement
This transdisciplinary MBA program is geared primarily toward Australian public sector leaders in both the state and federal governments, as well as leaders in adjacent industries. The program is suited to leaders transitioning to senior leadership roles who want to deepen their knowledge of core government functions in the public sector. Importantly, the ANU, as the National University, is located at the epicentre of the Australian Public Sector ecosystem, and as such provides a perfect environment for learning, networking and collaboration opportunities for our students as well as our world-class researchers.

Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.
- Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
- Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
- Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
- The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants
Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:
- Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
- Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
- Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
- PhD students can stay upto 4 years
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
Postgraduate research, or a higher degree by research (HDR) program, is a research-focused degree usually undertaken by someone who has completed a previous degree with a significant research component.
Postgraduate research degrees include Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) and Master of Philosophy (MPhil).
Eligibility
Admission to a Doctor of Philosophy degree at ANU requires:
- An Australian Bachelor degree with at least Second Class Honours - Upper (First Class Honours is often required) or its international equivalent, or
- Another degree with a significant research/thesis component that may be assessed as equivalent to paragraph (1), or
- A combination of qualifications, research publications, and/or professional experience related to the field of study that may be assessed as equivalent to paragraph (1).
Admission to a Master of Philosophy degree at ANU requires:
- An Australian Bachelor degree or higher, with an overall grade of distinction or higher, or its international equivalent, or
- Another degree that may be assessed as equivalent to paragraph (1), or
- A combination of qualifications, research publications, and/or professional experience related to the field of study that may be assessed as equivalent to paragraph (1).
- All applicants must meet the University's English language requirements for admission, noting that it is possible for you to apply without yet meeting English. In this case, if you are approved for admission, your offer would be conditional on meeting our language requirements.
A supervisor must be available at ANU willing to supervise your research before an offer may be made. If, however, you are applying to the ANU College of Business & Economics, please check with this College about their arrangements for setting up supervision.
A score of 70% or more with no section less than 65%
Academic IELTS An overall score of 6.5 with a minimum 6.0 in each component of the test.
TOEFL** - paper based test A score of 600 with a TWE* score of 5.0.
TOEFL** - internet based test An overall score of 100, with a minimum of 22 in each component of the test.
Cambridge CAE Advanced (Post 2015) An overall score of 185 with a minimum of 169 in all sub-skills.
PTE Academic An overall score of 70 with a minimum score of 60 in each of the communicative skills.
