Master of Professional Engineering

The Master of Professional Engineering is designed to help students develop skills in professional management, communication, and research methods and principles in the engineering discipline. Students undertake research and project work, and benefit from the industry focus of the program. Students participate in a professional industry project. This experience allows students to apply their knowledge and skills to industry problems. They also enhance students’ awareness of industry and provide valuable networking opportunities. A key feature of the course is the Career Success Program which aims to improve graduate employability by focusing on preparation for post-study career opportunities.

Course description
The Master of Professional Engineering has been designed for students who wish to broaden their professional engineering knowledge and to undertake studies that will further strengthen a chosen field of engineering. The course has an industry focus through contemporary research and project work.

This postgraduate course will further build on a student’s cognate undergraduate engineering qualifications by developing engineering related professional management and communication skills, research methods and principles, and strengthening a chosen engineering specialisation. Key features of this course include the Professional Engineering Entrepreneurship Project unit and the Professional Industry Project. Both these units provide students with opportunities to gain awareness, experience and links to industry, whilst enabling them to apply their knowledge, techniques and skills to solve industry related problems.

The course is aimed at engineers who seek to diversify their career and to build on their current engineering specialisation with contemporary studies. Graduates will be able to lead and apply advanced technical and management skills to the design, procurement and maintenance of engineering projects. The course will also provide a pathway for graduating students to undertake PhD research in one of the specialist areas of engineering.

The Career Success Program focuses on career planning and employment readiness through one-on-one career coaching sessions and workshops that include opportunities to meet with employers, learn career skills and prepare for your future.
