MSc in Advanced General Medical Practice

This one-year MSc in Advanced General Medical Practice has been designed to support international medical doctors who wish to gain a Master of Science postgraduate qualification and work in the UK.

The UK needs you. There is a huge gap in the number of practising medical doctors in the UK. To fill this gap, we help qualified doctors to come to the UK and be able to practise medicine legally. International recruitment has been, and will remain, an essential pipeline for medical staffing in the NHS. The College of Medicine and Dentistry has designed a programme specifically with this in mind. This intensive, blended learning one year MSc in Advanced General Medical Practice programme is based at our Birmingham Campus in the United Kingdom.

It aims to develop your confidence and skills needed to pass the GMC licensing exams (currently PLAB, but UKMLA from 2024), as well as provide a clear pathway to gain employment in the UK and practise medicine legally. You will receive direct hands-on tuition from some of the world’s most experienced medical educators and our student’s services team will support you from application, through the visa process, exam preparation as well as help you to navigate and communicate effectively within the NHS organisation. PSW Opportunity

2 Years PSW is applicable after completing a minimum duration of 9 months course (like- Undergraduate, Postgraduate Level)
3 Years PSW is applicable after completing PhD level courses.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Copy of Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), or equivalent, or other approved qualification in a cognate area
Letter of good standing or equivalent from an appropriate regulatory medical body, and
Applicants will need to demonstrate evidence of professional indemnity cover
Applicants from countries subject to UK government financial sanctions

For applicants from countries subject to UK government financial sanctions, we are required to conduct a financial check to ensure that we as a College will not be in receipt of funds that have come from, or been earned in, countries subject to these sanctions. Where an applicant cannot meet this financial check, we would not be able to make them an offer for a programme. The financial evidence that we will accept is the same as that which is accepted by the UKVI for a Student Visa application.

English Language Requirements
Our courses require a minimum English level of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent, with no band score under 5.5. If you do not meet the English language requirement we will give you a conditional offer subject to you meeting the requirement before the commencement of the course.
