The Forge
The Forge is a final year unit of study for students studying a Bachelor of Interactive Media or a Bachelor of Digital Design.
You’ll fulfil a live industry brief under real-world pressure, collaborating as part of a team in a multi-disciplinary environment. You’ll learn to become an effective team player and to work with speed and efficiency, producing work that connects and interacts with audiences. By simulating the realities of the workplace, you’ll be job-ready when you graduate - and well positioned to reach the top of your game, faster.
The Forge concludes with a panel presentation with industry representatives, showcasing the final project that allows you to create a more polished piece of work to include in your portfolio. Where possible, you will be mentored, critiqued and assessed by an industry panel.
The Forge is led by an experienced industry practitioner in the role of Supervising Producer who guides, advises and supports students throughout the semester with their final group projects.
Launchpad
Sometimes, being creative just isn’t enough. To score a dream job and get ahead in a career, you also need to be business-savvy. This is where AIT’s Launchpad programme comes in.
A final year subject across the Bachelor of Interactive Media and Bachelor of Digital Design, Launchpad will give you the skills to land a great job and advance your career in an industry where self-promotion can be everything. Launchpad covers every aspect of building an extraordinary career – from portfolio development, brand identity and interview techniques to workplace skills, building your resume and creating the all-important showreel.
PSW Opportunity
Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.
- Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
- Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
- Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
- The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants
Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:
- Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
- Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
- Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
- PhD students can stay upto 4 years
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
Entry Requirements
International applicants for Diplomas & Bachelors in Games Design, 2D Animation, 3D Animation and Film need to have:
- Successfully completed an Australian Senior Certificate of Education or equivalent, i.e. International Baccalaureate, or higher qualification; OR
- Successfully completed a Certificate IV, VET Diploma or Higher Education Diploma (or higher) in a related field.
- An IELTS test result of 6.0 (no band less than 5.5) or equivalent, which has been completed within the last 24 months.
NB: You are not required to have an ATAR ranking for entry into the above Bachelor or Diploma courses.
International applicants for the Bachelor of Information Technology (Mobile Application Development) need to have:
- Successfully completed an Australian Senior Certificate of Education and achieved a grade of not less than 60% in at least one STEM subject, or equivalent certification, i.e. International Baccalaureate, or higher certification; OR
- Successfully completed a Certificate IV, VET Diploma or Higher Education Diploma (or higher) in a related field.
- An IELTS test result of 6.0 (no band less than 5.5) or equivalent, which has been completed within the last 24 months.
If you don’t have the above and want to enrol please get in touch with us, as we may be able to consider your application using an alternate form of evidence, e.g. a portfolio submission.
International applicants for VET Diploma of Information Technology (ICT50220) need to have:
- Successfully completed an Australian Senior Certificate of Education or equivalent, i.e. International Baccalaureate, or higher qualification; OR
- Successfully completed a Certificate IV, VET Diploma or Higher Education Diploma (or higher) in a related field.
- An IELTS test result of 5.5 (no band less than 5.0) or equivalent, which has been completed within the last 24 months; OR
- Have successfully completed an approved English Language Program with one of our English Language College partners.
