Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
Candidates for H902 Ph.D. will undertake research in a public health-related topic under the supervision of academic staff members at Deakin University and the University of Copenhagen. They will spend at least six months at each institution to allow them to be provided with exposure to international health systems and research.
Research areas supported include Public Health and Health Promotion, Health Economics and Program Evaluation, Public Health Nutrition, Health Service Management, Medicine and Allied Health.
A Doctor of Philosophy is awarded for a substantial, original contribution to knowledge achieved in up to four years of full-time study (or four to eight years of part-time candidature).

Warranambool
Deakin's Warrnambool Campus is set on the banks of the picturesque Hopkins River, close to local surf beaches and popular tourist attractions. The 94 hectare site is approximately five kilometres from the centre of Warrnambool CBD, serviced by the Princes Highway and by its own railway station and bus services. Warrnambool has a population of about 34,000 and is roughly 250 kilometres west of Melbourne.

Admission requirements
Applicants are required to have completed at least a bachelor's degree, or comparable, of an acceptable standard from an approved university or other educational institution. Some degrees may have additional entry requirements, which you can find on the course pages in this guide. Masters degrees by coursework that include a research stream may provide a possible pathway to Ph.D. candidature.
