Bachelor of Music – Musicology

UNDERSTAND THE CULTURE OF MUSIC

The Bachelor of Music – Musicology program blends research, theory, and philosophy to investigate the cultural history of music in its various forms, and how music is influenced by culture. Discover the practices, values, and ideas to make educated claims about how different people think and feel about the world.

AIM’s Musicology specialisation teaches you to think critically about how cultural expressions evoke meaning and explore the triumphs and challenges of music as a form of cultural identity.

You will solidify a foundation in musical literacy, interact with materials that create music, examine how those elements are structured and notated in diverse genres, and develop your skills to identify musical structures by ear.

COLLABORATE ON PRACTICAL PROJECTS

Though the Musicology specialisation is primarily research-focused, you will collaborate on practical projects and receive expert guidance from their convenors. You can also explore other areas of interest outside of Musicology by selecting from AIM’s entire elective list.
