Master of Environmental Management

The Master of Environmental Management is designed for graduates who have completed a relevant Bachelors degree – for example, Arts, Business, Engineering, Planning, Science, Health or Medical Sciences – and who wish to build upon this with advanced studies in human and community engagement with environmental issues and/or the practice of environmental management. No prior study of environmental management is required

The core course considers alternative perspectives on environmental management and research methodologies as preparation for the 30 point research project.

You will be well prepared to make a difference in your localities and communities; and empowered with an understanding of social mobilisation, civic action, and practical expertise in environmental management.

PSW Opportunity

Level 7 (Bachelor’s degree)

  • Duration: Equal to length of study (typically up to 3 years)

Conditions:

  • Must also hold a Bachelor’s degree (NZ or overseas)
  • Duration: Up to length of study (typically 1 year)

Level 8 (Postgraduate Diploma)

  • Duration: Equal to length of study, OR
  • Up to 3 years in some cases (if part of higher qualification pathway)

Level 9 and 10 (Master’s degree and Doctoral degree)

  • Duration: 3 years
  • Condition: Must study at least 30 weeks in New Zealand

- Most eligible international students can work up to 25 hours per week during study and full-time during scheduled breaks, only if their student visa includes work rights.

- Foundation, pathway and short courses have different rules.

- Not allowed for part time students.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

  • You must have completed a Bachelors degree at a recognised university (or similar institution) with a minimum GPE of 4.0.
