If you want to make a difference in your community, our Bachelor of Social Work program is for you! Founded nearly 50 years ago, the BSW at West Chester University trains students to work in a variety of settings with diverse individuals, families, groups, and communities, and promotes ethical thinking, life-long learning, and self-evaluation. Our program is designed to help you put theory into practice. Our students enjoy a high level of hands on experience through three semesters of field placements, and learn to view difference as a strength rather than to perpetuate negative stereotypes about diverse groups in society. Our program focuses on the unique contributions and potential of groups of people who have suffered from discrimination, oppression, or restricted opportunity based upon their race, ethnicity, religion, immigration status, gender expression, sexual orientation, physical, mental, or intellectual ability, and socioeconomic status.
