Experiential learning is the cornerstone of our Psychology program. You’ll hone observational and experimental methods in laboratory courses as well as independent research programs. In fact, with the guidance and support of our student-focused faculty, you may find yourself examining assessment practices in a juvenile correctional facility, or even observing the curiosity of toddlers as they begin to navigate the world of spoken language.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Test Scores and Proof of English Proficiency.
If you are an international student and need a visa to study in the U.S., you must meet Valparaiso University’s English test requirement through one of the following means
SAT (Reading & Writing score minimum of 500)
ACT (English score minimum of 24)
TOEFL (75 iBT minimum)
IELTS (6.0 minimum) must be less than 2 years old for validation.
Duolingo English Test (100 or higher) sent from Duolingo
iTEP (3.8 or higher)
PTE (56 or higher)
British Council (UK) GCE or GCSE (A/O Levels) English exam (Grade of A or B)
IB Higher Level English Exam (Score of 5, 6, or 7, or grade A or B)
Completion of Level 112 at an ELS Language Center. (Conditional admission may be available for select students who have not yet met our English Proficiency requirements only through our approved partners.)
Completion of approved English as a Second Language (ESL) Program

You may submit more than one type of test on your application. The Undergraduate Admissions Office maintains the right to require English proficiency testing when deemed necessary.
