Ontario College Graduate Certificate in Professional Accounting Practice

If you are a motivated individual looking for an exciting career in accounting, this program is for you. This program prepares you to pursue a professional accounting career leading to the attainment of the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Designation.

This one-year Ontario College Graduate Certificate program will provide you with skills to develop an in-depth understanding of financial statement preparation, financial reporting, managerial accounting, and corporate finance. You will develop skills in critical thinking, managing complex scenarios, and fulfilling statutory requirements. Through case studies, group projects, and interactive online content, you will develop the skills needed to analyze complex scenarios, interpret them, and prepare financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting frameworks. You will be taught by faculty members with industry experience, many of whom hold CPA designation. Flexible delivery will allow you to balance your professional commitments with the academic commitments arising out of this program.

This program is recognized by CPA Ontario. Graduates will be eligible to enter the Professional Education Program (PEP) phase of the CPA pathway, provided they meet the criteria set up by CPA Ontario. Following the PEP phase, you have the option to complete the remainder of the program with CPA Ontario (Capstone I and II) and then write the Common Final Exam (CFE).

This 12,000-square-foot training facility was completed in 2010. Initially developed to provide training programs in the electrical utilities powerline field, the Ingersoll Skills Training Centre also provides additional power-related programs as well as skilled trades programs that complement the industry. It is the only facility in southwestern Ontario to offer such training.

  •    We may give you a PGWP that’s valid for 3 years.

> If you completed more than 1 program

  •    You may be able to get a PGWP that combines the length of each program.

Each of the programs you completed -

  • must be PGWP-eligible and at least 8 months in length

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

  • A two- or three-year diploma or a degree from an accredited college or university
  • Applicants with transcripts from institutions where the language of instruction is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency with a minimum test score on one of the following language proficiency tests or equivalent scores from another internationally recognized English language test:
    • IELTS overall band of 6.5 with no band less than 6.0
    • TOEFL iBT 88
    • CAEL 70, no sub-test band score less than 60
    • PTE Academic 58
    • Conestoga English Language Test (CELT) Band 6
  • We offer a language program for students whose English language skills are below the standard required for admission but all other admission criteria have been met. An applicant will be eligible for admission to the graduate certificate program after completion of level 4 of the General Arts and Science - English Language Studies (ELS) program with an overall grade average of 80% and no grade less than 75%. Placement in the ELS program is determined by scores on an in-house English language test or TOEFL or IELTS.
