About Bishop’s University

Located in Sherbrooke, Quebec, in the borough of Lennoxville, Bishop’s University is one of Canada’s premier undergraduate institutions. A predominantly residential school, the university welcomes approximately 2,400 students each year and is focused on delivering a liberal-style education in an intimate learning environment that encourages exploration and discovery. Bishop’s University is classified as one of the 20 largest employers in the Eastern Townships region.

If your program was less than 8 months

•    You aren’t eligible for a PGWP.

If your program was more than 8 months but less than 2 years

•    We may give you a PGWP that’s valid for up to the same length as your study program.

For example, if you completed a 9-month program, we may give you a work permit for up to 9 months.

If your program was 2 years or more

•    We may give you a PGWP that’s valid for 3 years.

If you completed more than 1 program

•    You may be able to get a PGWP that combines the length of each program.

Each of the programs you completed -

• must be PGWP-eligible and at least 8 months in length

The program is open to graduates of any university of recognized standing who have obtained at least a Bachelor’s degree with honours with a Class II standing (GPA of 3/4 or its equivalent). An applicant who has followed a combined program (e.g., majors in math and physics), must have obtained at least a Class II standing in their physics courses. Applicants who do not satisfy these requirements may, with the permission of the University, be admitted to a qualifying year to bring their standing up to that of an honours degree. Alternatively, the department may require students to do additional courses to those that are considered mandatory to meet the minimum requirements. Even if MSc applicants meet the minimum requirements, the department is not obligated to accept applicants based on the availability of supervisors, financial considerations, ability to offer the necessary courses, or the ranking of more qualified candidates.
