Business - Accounting (Diploma)

Humber’s Business – Accounting diploma program provides you with a well-rounded accounting education with training in accounting procedures and theory, taxation, business law, information systems, and management. You’ll gain hands-on experience in industry-standard software including Profile (personal tax), Access, Excel, Power BI, QuickBooks, Sage 50 Accounting (formerly known as Simply Accounting) and Sage 300 ERP (Accpac Plus).  

You will learn accounting from industry-connected faculty who are committed to providing you with practical, hands-on accounting training to help you get ahead. Our program’s versatile range of courses helps you develop broad-based business skills including human resource administration, business writing, macroeconomics and finance. You may choose to study for four consecutive semesters if you wish to accelerate your path to graduation.

At any time, you can transfer to the three-year Business Administration – Accounting advanced diploma program. If you transfer to the 3-year advanced diploma in your second semester, you would be eligible to apply for a spot within the optional co-op program.

Outside of the classroom, our accounting programs are supported by our state-of-the-art Accounting Centre.

Working While Studying

Part-time employment opportunities are available to international students for working both on and off campus. You can work up to 24 hours per week on campus, or up to 20 hours per week off campus, during regular school sessions and work full time during scheduled breaks, such as the winter and summer holidays or reading week.

Working on campus will help you gain valuable work experience, learn about services at Humber and earn extra money. Most positions are relatively flexible to your study schedule.

Working off campus is a great opportunity to gain first-hand experience with a Canadian company and work environment. You must have a valid study permit that states you are eligible to work off campus.

If your program was less than 8 months

  •    You aren’t eligible for a PGWP.

If your program was more than 8 months but less than 2 years

  •    We may give you a PGWP that’s valid for up to the same length as your study program.

For example, if you completed a 9-month program, we may give you a work permit for up to 9 months.

If your program was 2 years or more

  •    We may give you a PGWP that’s valid for 3 years.

If you completed more than 1 program

  •    You may be able to get a PGWP that combines the length of each program.

Each of the programs you completed -

  • must be PGWP-eligible and at least 8 months in length

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent including these required courses:

  • Grade 12 English (ENG4C or ENG4U or equivalent)
  • Grade 12 Mathematics (MAP4C, MCT4C, MDM4U, MCB4U, MGA4U, MCV4U or MHF4U) or Grade 11 M or U Mathematics (MCF3M or MCR3U)
  • Two Grade 11 or Grade 12 C, M or U courses in addition to those listed above
    or
    Mature student status
    or
  • College or university transfer status
  • International Credit Evaluation
    • Canadian citizens or permanent residents with international education are required to provide a credential evaluation. Note, for international High school education course by course evaluations, ICAS must be used. For international post-secondary education, a WES evaluation must be provided. In situations where you expect to apply for transfer credit, it is recommended that a course by course WES evaluation is completed.
