Job Opportunity Potential

CAs will advocate and promote the CDC and student professional development.

The CAs primary role is to help with career development and employer relations initiatives through outreach to students, alumni, employers and campus organizations.

Ambassadors will go through extensive training with and report directly to the CDC staff members.

Responsibilities
Design marketing materials and create promotional strategies to engage students in all years of study across all programs
Collaborate with student associations to organize events and/or promotional efforts
Create, curate and collect content for newsletters and social media channels
Assist with planning, organizing and promoting events such as hiring fair, workshops, Creating Connections, speaker panels, dean's choice events, industry day, career development month, company tours, speaker panels etc.
Represent the CDC as an ambassador by promoting events, services, resources and encouraging students to participate across all Faculties
Provide input, suggestions, ideas and feedback to the CDC regarding students' needs and requests for services and programs
Support the collection of data
Assist with recruitment and training of new ambassadors
Enter data as required
Deliver short in-class presentations to promote the CDC
Promote CDC at various internal events and tabling around campus
Attend team meetings and trainings as scheduled
Support the CDC in various projects and initiatives
Requirements
Committed to advancing the CDC's mission of striving to empower students and alumni with the skills, tools and resources they need to achieve their career goals
Current Capilano University student with at least a CGPA of 2.5
Able to work up to 10 hrs/week with the possibility of additional hours not exceeding 20 hours per week
Ability to exercise tact, diplomacy and professionalism
Strong interpersonal, public speaking and communication skills (verbal and written)
Evidence of leadership, responsibility, accountability, initiative and attention to detail

PSW Opportunity

Eligibility for Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP):
Graduated from a designated learning institution (DLI) in Canada.
Desire to stay in Canada temporarily for work.

Important Note:
Graduating from a DLI doesn't automatically qualify you for a PGWP.

Validity of PGWP:
Depends on the length of the study program or the expiry date of your passport, whichever comes first.

Duration of PGWP Based on Study Program Length:
Less than 8 months (or 900 hours for Quebec credentials): Not eligible for PGWP.
At least 8 months (or 900 hours for Quebec credentials), but less than 2 years: PGWP may be granted for the same length as the study program (e.g., a 9-month program results in a 9-month PGWP).
2 years or more: PGWP may be valid for 3 years.

Completion of Multiple Programs:
PGWP may combine the lengths of each program if:
Each program is PGWP eligible.
Each program is at least 8 months (or 900 hours for Quebec credentials) in length.

Important Restriction:
You cannot obtain a PGWP if you already had one after completing an earlier program of study.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

International students are eligible for admission to Capilano if they have completed the equivalent of secondary school graduation (Grade 12) in British Columbia. 

Note: some programs require a portfolio, supplemental documents, audition, particular academic subjects, a minimum GPA, or have a selective or competitive admission process. For example, Arts and Sciences programs require the equivalent of BC High School graduation (EN12 included)  as well as a minimum of 2 academic subjects at the grade 12 level with a minimum 2.0 Grade Point Average (60%).

English is the language of instruction at CapU. All applicants are required to demonstrate competence in the English language prior to admission.

If English is not your first language or you’ve received your education in a language other than English, students must produce evidence of their English Language Proficiency:

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): paper=540, internet=75, or
English Language Assessment (ELA)=128, or
International English Language Testing System (Academic IELTS)=6.0 overall, and no one score less than 5.5 and a min score of 6.0 in writing, or
Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL)=60, or
Pearson Test of English (PTE Academic)=53, or
Capilano University EAP 090 with a minimum B+ grade.
Basic requirements
Completion of an undergraduate degree from a recognized institution with a cumulative GPA (CGPA) of 2.0 or higher with preference given to students with a 2.5 or higher on the final two years of study
