PSW Opportunity

You may be eligible for a post-graduation work permit (PGWP) if you graduated from a designated learning institution (DLI) and want to stay in Canada temporarily to work.

Graduation from a DLI doesn’t automatically make you eligible for a PGWP.

How long your PGWP is valid for depends on the length of your study program or the expiry date of your passport, whichever comes first.

If your program was less than 8 months (or 900 hours for Quebec credentials)
You aren’t eligible for a PGWP.

If your program was at least 8 months (or 900 hours for Quebec credentials), but less than 2 years
We may give you a PGWP that’s valid for up to the same length as your study program.

For example, if you completed a 9-month program, we may give you a work permit for up to 9 months.

If your program was 2 years or more
We may give you a PGWP that’s valid for 3 years.

If you completed more than 1 program
You may be able to get a PGWP that combines the length of each program.

Each of the programs you completed must be

PGWP eligible and
at least 8 months (or 900 hours for Quebec credentials) in length
You can’t get a PGWP if you already had one after completing an earlier program of study.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

International Applicants
Applicants must have graduated from an education institution accredited by one of the regional or national accrediting bodies, or the Ministry of Education (or equivalency) of that country.

Due to differences in world educational and grading systems, satisfactory completion of secondary education is not necessarily an acceptable basis for admission to the first year. Acsenda reserves the right to determine whether an applicant is eligible for admission and to determine what transfer credit, if any, may be granted to international applicants with prior post-secondary education.

Acsenda’s two English bridging courses:

EAPP090: entry requirement for EAPP090 is IELTS (Academic) 5.5 with no band below 5.0 (or equivalent). EAPP090 is not for credit.
ENGL103 and ENGL104: entry requirement to enroll in ENGL103 and ENGL104 is IELTS (Academic) 6.0 with no band lower than 5.5 (or equivalent). ENGL103 and ENGL104 are 3-credit courses.
If you want more information about English exams accepted by Acsenda, go to the article ‘Types of English exams accepted for international students‘.
