The Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree includes an additional research year on top of the standard Bachelor of Science curriculum. Available to high-performing students, this leading qualification is comprised of a year-long original research project in a professional scientific environment. With a choice of four disciplines, students can further develop specialist expertise in their chosen area of science and build high-level science research skills that are highly valued by employers.

Course features
Students complete a year-long project in a professional in a professional laboratory at UTS or with one of the university’s numerous industry partners, choosing from the following discipline areas:

Medical Science and Biotechnology
Environmental Sciences
Chemistry
Physics
They work under the guidance of leading academics and practitioners, developing research skills with real relevance to industry. They also learn to engage, partner and collaborate with working scientists and develop a range of professional capabilities, including report writing and presentation skills, that have immediate utility in a vast range of science and similar roles.

UTS Careers Fair:
The UTS Careers Fair is targeted at penultimate and final year students and is also open all undergraduate and postgraduate, local and international students. Each employer selects the types of students they wish to target (by year level and faculty) in the registration process. Students are all given colour-coded badges when they arrive so that employers can see who corresponds to their desired candidates, and a map of the booths, to easily find these employers. Additionally, each employer booth is coded with the students with whom they would like to meet so that the process is further streamlined. We will also have Careers Ambassadors, who are students working on the event, to assist you where needed.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

India

Successful completion of the All India Senior School Certificate Examination (CBSE) (10+2) with overall grades in best four academic subjects where A1=5, A2=4.5, B1=3.5, B2=3.0, C1=2.0, C2=1.5, D1=1, D2=0.5, or successful completion of the Indian School Certificate Examination (10+2) awarded by Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) with an overall percentage grade average in the best four externally examined subjects.

Successful completion of the Higher Secondary School examinations from some state boards with a competitive pass may also be accepted.

Sri Lanka

Successful completion of the Sri Lankan General Certificate of Education (GCE) with 3 Advanced level passes at the same sitting.

Pakistan

Successful completion of at least one full-time year of a four-year bachelor's degree at a recognized university or a completed 2 to 3 years bachelor degree at a recognized university.

Bangladesh

Successful completion of at least one full-time year of a four-year bachelor's degree at a recognized university or a completed 2 to 3 year bachelor degree at a recognized university.

Nepal

Successful completion of at least one full-time year of a four-year bachelor's degree at a recognized university or a completed 2 to 3 year bachelor degree at a recognized university.
