Dublin , Dublin ,Ireland

Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Computing with Software Development/Computing with Information Technology Management

Ireland has developed as a significant global hub for ICT. This is a thriving, exciting sector with a real global perspective. Many of the big names that have significant bases around Dublin are familiar to us names – AWS, Google, Microsoft, IBM, LinkedIn, but there is much more strength in depth to this sector in Ireland.

Did you know that 9 of the top 10 global software companies, 10 of the top 10 global ICT companies, 4 of the top 5 IT Services companies and the top 10 born on the internet companies all have significant bases in Ireland

Over recent years, the discipline areas of Information Technology, Computing and Computer Science have expanded in the scope and range of knowledge contained within them. The rise to prominence of big data, social media, mobile  technology, information security not to mention new cloud based architectures and infrastructures for delivering information technology has meant that increased demand for Software and IT Management graduates with a broader range of specialisations and skills sets.

This honours degree course gives a great grounding in the essentials of computing leading to rewarding careers. We use a common Year 1 where you develop essential skills and get to understand your particular strengths. We then give you a choice of specialising in IT Management or Software Development. Later in the course additional options in Cloud Computing and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning are available.

A computing core with four specialisations, six months work placement and a major industry project specialised to your career ambition. Did we mention that TU Dublin produced the world champion in Cloud Computing in 2019 and has some of the best professionally certified lecturers with industry experience? Learn where the best learn!
