Master of Information Technology

The Master of Information Technology (MIT) is designed to enable those with a degree in non IT areas to develop skills and knowledge that will allow them to enter the field of information technology. Students entering the Master of Information Technology from cognate bachelor degrees (e.g. bachelor degree in IT or Computer Science) are eligible for potential unit substitution for one or more of the foundational units within the course.

The course provides a solid base in all of the key foundational and important areas of IT, and provides the opportunity for students to specialise and develop deep knowledge within specific areas of IT. The MIT has been designed to meet the current and growing skill shortage in IT, particularly in the areas of Cyber Security and
Computer Networking. Students may select from advanced units covering key aspects of Cyber Security or Enterprise Networks and graduate with a specialisation in these areas. There are two electives in the MIT, one of which can be from a field other than IT. The course includes a capstone Applied Project unit that ensures that competence in the application of skills and knowledge is demonstrated to current and/or prospective employers.
