Master of Business Administration (MBA)

The MBA course is designed to synthesise the development of graduates’ skills and knowledge of contemporary business management practices. The prime focus is on the application of those skills and the ability for graduates to tailor their studies through a variety of electives.

The structure ensures that graduates are prepared for middle and senior management roles in a broad range of industries. The masters course deepens the knowledge and skills acquired through the core units plus the flexibility for students to select 2 units of particular interest. Within the core, the capstone Applied Business Project ensures that competence in the application of skills and knowledge is demonstrated to current and/or prospective employers.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

The following admission criteria apply to all applicants to courses at APIC that lead to the award of an AQF
Level 9 qualification. Additional English language requirements for international students are provided 5.1.3
English language requirements for postgraduate entry.

Applicants must have successfully completed a Bachelor’s degree (AQF 7) or higher, awarded by a
recognised university or higher education institution, in any discipline.
Applicants who do not meet these entry requirements but who successfully complete a Graduate Certificate
or Graduate Diploma at APIC will be eligible to progress to a Master Degree.
Additional Entry Requirements / Pre-Requisites
Students entering the Master of Information Technology from cognate bachelor degrees (e.g. bachelor degree in IT
or Computer Science) are eligible for potential unit substitution for one or more of the foundational units
within the course. For unit substitution to apply students need to provide documentary evidence demonstrating
that they have met the learning outcomes of the foundation unit they are applying to substitute. This would
normally be through the provision of information regarding the units completed within their bachelor’s degree.
Requests for unit substitution will be assessed using the same standards as assessments of applications for
credit (RPL).

English language requirements
5.1.3. English language requirements for postgraduate entry All applicants from a non-English speaking
background applying to any postgraduate course at APIC must satisfy the following additional English language
requirements:

IELTS Academic: overall band score of 6.5 or higher, with a minimum score of 6.0 in
writing and speaking; OR
IBT (Internet-based TOEFL): overall score of 79 with a writing section minimum of 21
and speaking 18; OR
Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE): Overall score 180, writing
and speaking 180;OR
Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE): Overall 176 with a writing and
speaking minimum score of 169; OR
PTE Academic Module with a minimum score of 58 with a writing and speaking section
minimum of 50.
