Master of Health Management

This program is ideal for clinicians interested in pursuing management or an executive career in health policy or health care.

The Master of Health Management develops students' knowledge across the broad scope of health. This course prepares graduates to provide leadership in a range of health services and programs. Students may choose to complete a specialization in emergency and disaster management, health law, health policy and planning, quality and patient safety, or a cross-specialization. Note, the specialization is not part of the award title and does not appear on the graduation parchment.


  • Prepare to work as a manager across a number of health areas.
  • Study specialization in emergency and disaster management, health law, health policy and planning, quality and patient safety, or a cross-specialization.
  • Graduate eligible for membership of the Australian College of Health Service Managers (ACHSM).
  • Choose to combine your coursework with a project or dissertation.

Their skills are used to develop strategies to maximize the efficient and effective delivery of health services in a diverse range of health settings. Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Master of Health Management - 2-year program
  • A completed recognized bachelor degree (or higher) with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 4 (on QUT's 7 point scale) in any discipline.

Master of Health Management - 1.5-year program

A completed recognized bachelor degree (or higher award):

  • in health, business or law with a minimum grade point average of 4.0 (on QUT's 7 point scale); 
  • in any other discipline with a minimum grade point average of 4.0 (on QUT's 7 point scale) and with at least 3 years (full-time or equivalent) experience working in health management at a middle to senior level. Middle to senior-level experience is defined as experience in a supervisory or leadership role (e.g. with responsibility for decision making, teamwork, quality assurance, and/or policy development.

You do not need to apply for the 1.5-year program as you will be automatically assessed for eligibility as part of QUT's application for the admission process.

Higher Education
  • Bachelor or higher degree from a recognized Indian institution completed within five years of starting at QUT, and 65% in the High School English Core subject awarded by CISCE or CBSE.
