Foundation Program pathways - ACCELERATED
The Accelerated Foundation Program is designed for students who have higher academic results and English language proficiency (IELTS 6.0 or above) and are capable of handling a faster pace of tuition. It is also suitable for students who have completed a matriculation program in their own country but have not quite met the entry levels for undergraduate study or who need to gain assumed knowledge in certain subjects.
Pathway to
Guaranteed entry into most UQ undergraduate programs in 2022 provided assessment standards are met. (Guaranteed entry does not apply to quota programs.)
Compulsory subjects
Main stream: Academic English (AE) and General Mathematics or Mathematical Methods. Humanities stream: Academic English (AE) and Humanities and Social Sciences.
Electives (choose 3)
Accounting, Behavioural Science, Business Management, Biology, Chemistry, Design, Economics, ACCELERATED Health and Nutrition, Humanities and Social Sciences, Information Technology, Physics, Research (recommended for Humanities stream).

Post-study Work Rights (Temporary Graduate (subclass 485) visa: The current eligibility requirements stipulate that students “cannot count any studies outside Australia towards the Australian study requirement. The only courses you can count towards the Australian study requirement are those that are completed in Australia.” Therefore, if you are enrolled in a 4-semester postgraduate degree at UQ and wish to study overseas for one semester, you will not meet the eligibility requirements for a Post-Study Work Rights visa. Further information on eligibility requirements for the Temporary Graduate (Subclass 485) visa is available on the Department’s website.
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
Depending on the country, eleven full or twelve full years of schooling (entry from Year 11 or equivalent requires superior grades). Depending on your preferred undergraduate program, a minimum grade in Mathematics and a science may also apply. Forecast results are accepted where appropriate and consideration is given to the actual subjects studied. We will only accept an application if the results indicate the student will have a good chance of passing the program.
