SWANSEA UNIVERSITY

Sketty , Wales ,United Kingdom

Computer Science, MSc by Research

You will undertake an individual computer science research project over one, two or three years, supported by our internationally renowned experts. The project will be shaped by your participation in research activities such as seminars, workshops, laboratory activity and field work, as well as your involvement in one of our established research groups.

Computer Science at Swansea University is widely acknowledged as a leading UK department, with a raft of rankings reflecting teaching and research excellence. The College is ranked:

  • 8th in the UK overall [Times/Sunday Times Good University Guide 2019]
  • In the UK Top 20 for Research Excellence [Research Excellence Framework 2014]
  • 14th in the UK for research [Times and Sunday Times University Guide 2019]
  • UK University of the Year Runner-up and Welsh University of the Year [Times and Sunday Times University Guide 2019]
  • Computer Science and Engineering at Swansea is world ranked 401-500 in the 2017 Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS).

All postgraduate Computer Science programmes give you the transferable skills and knowledge to capitalise on the burgeoning and ever-evolving technology industry.
This MSc by Research degree allows you to pursue a one year individual programme of research that would usually finish after a year. But under appropriate circumstances, this first year may be used to progress to the second year of a PhD degree.
A recommended initial research training module forms the single taught element of the MSc, and is most suitable if you have a background in computer science or a related discipline and seek a wholly research-based programme of study.
