BACHELORS OF Engineering (Honours) / Design

Through the Bachelor of Design, you’ll learn to challenge conventional thinking and bring a different mindset to problems. With a focus on solutions-based thinking, you’ll gain practical skills in hands-on studio-based courses and expand your career options.

Complement your design studies with technical knowledge through the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), where you’ll benefit from hands-on experiences across all aspects of engineering, more study options for greater career opportunities, and direct contact with industry – your future employers – threaded throughout your degree.

You’ll develop technical skills through a core specialisation, which will form the basis of your career. Choose from either chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronic engineering or software engineering.

Graduate with a respected honours qualification, advanced knowledge and leadership skills that will set you apart in a competitive job market and provide a pathway to future research or learning.

Campus Information

St Lucia

Situated on 114 hectares of Brisbane River-bound land, UQ’s main campus is a vibrant mix of majestic sandstone buildings and contemporary architecture, landscaped gardens and lakes. Fanning out from the heritage-listed Great Court, you’ll find modern teaching and research facilities, including laboratories, lecture theatres, and Queensland’s largest research library. The expansive grounds are also home to a variety of sporting facilities, museums, cafes, and those famous Jacaranda trees. The St Lucia campus is only seven kilometres from Brisbane’s city centre, making it an appealing place to study, work or visit.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Entry scores
All international applicants need to have successfully completed Queensland Year 12 (or an equivalent qualification) and meet the minimum entry score for this program.

Prerequisites
Queensland Year 12 or equivalent English, Mathematics B; plus two of Agricultural Science, Biology, Chemistry, Earth and Environmental Science, Mathematics C or Physics, at least one of which must be Chemistry or Physics.
