The MBA program at UMass Lowell prepares students to effectively lead organizations in rapidly changing and diverse regional, national and global business environments, and fosters connections with alumni who lead Fortune 500 and innovative start-up companies – as well as everything in between.

Job Opportunity Potential

According to the Financial Times, those who earn an MBA more than doubled their pre-MBA salaries within three years. According to Payscale.com, the average salary for MBA graduates is $85,000, and salaries vary greatly depending on which industry the MBA graduate is in.

Students in UMass Lowell’s MBA program develop an understanding of all business processes, so that they are able to solve problems and integrate across all areas, bringing value to, and creating value for, their firm. They learn which management processes are necessary to for making changes, and so can lead change, and bring the critical thinking and communication skills that aid in ethical, effective problem solving and decision making.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

  • Admission to the MBA program is open to students who have earned four-year baccalaureate degrees
  • An aptitude for management decision-making and demonstrated academic ability
  • Official transcript from previously earned degrees
  • An official Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) score or Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score
  • Applicants may waive the GMAT exam based on certain criteria.
  • 3 letters of recommendation. Recommenders may send in their own letter or complete our Recommendation Form (pdf)
  • A resume (not required for Bachelors to Master's students)
  • Statement of purpose

International Applicants

  • A foreign credential evaluation by World Education Services or Center for Educational Documentation is required for degrees earned outside of the United States
  • English proficiency testing
  • TOEFL score of 100 (internet based)
  • IELTS minimum 7.5

Statement of Purpose

In a separate document, submit a brief statement indicating your immediate and long-range goals, relevant work history, academic honors/awards received, any teaching experience and/or research conducted/published that may be pertinent to your graduate program. Two pages recommended maximum.

Letters of Recommendation

You are required to submit three (3) letters of recommendation. You will be asked to provide (names and email addresses) referees during the application process and an automated request will be sent out after the completion of your application. 

Official Transcripts

Provide a complete and official transcript from the institution that awarded or will award you a bachelor’s degree. You may also include transcripts from other institutions at which you have taken relevant coursework. Please note that waiting for additional transcripts may delay review of your application.
